Professional Certification

The ASSP South Texas Chapter strongly supports professional development opportunities and encourages its members to earn professional certifications.  To further support this effort, we sponsor several approaches to encourage members to achieve further professional certification.  Please refer to the Board of Certified Safety Professional’s website to learn more about the certifications and qualifying requirements http://www.bcsp.org/

Professional Certification – Study Group

Professional Certification – Earning Recertification Points

Midwest Center for Occupational Health and Safety Free Online Continuing Education Courses

The Midwest Center for Occupational Health and Safety (MCOHS) offers professional continuing education courses.  Included in their offerings are FREE online courses that can be used for recertification points.  There are numerous interesting topics to discover, and each has a specified number of points earned for completion, some up to 0.33 points.  Visit http://www.sph.umn.edu/ce/online/ to view and register for courses or contact Ruth Rasmussen at rasmu048@umn.edu.

Recertification Points for Safety and Health Content

Classes and seminars that contain safety and health related content are eligible for recertification points, even if they are not pre-registered through the sponsoring organization.  For every 1 hour of instruction, you can earn up to 0.1 recertification points.  Remember to keep your class registration information, schedule/syllabus, certificate of completion, and instructor information.
